The Details Make the Difference

At Lehigh Commons in Macungie, PA, Account Manager Josh Charbonneau and his team go out of their way to ensure residents only have the best dining experience but an overall positive environment to live in. From selecting quality, nutritious foods to being a friend to the residents, this team personifies what going beyond on a daily basis means.

Presentation

The Beverage Station at Lehigh Commons.

From the moment you step into Lehigh Commons, you’re greeted with a locally sourced beverage station including tea, coffee, and soda – all from Pennsylvania companies.

When it comes to the kitchen, Josh and his team make sure all of their meals look as good as they taste.

“I motivate and work with my team to make the dining experience one that residents look forward to every day,” said Josh. Adding, “We practice center-of-plate presentation when plating the food, which features the main entree in the center, and side dishes are complimented around, allowing residents to enjoy each aspect of the meal in a unique way.”

A Greener Approach

Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) consistently looks to find new ways to reduce its carbon footprint – something Josh keeps top of mind.

“We have a garden right outside the dining room where we pick fresh vegetables and residents get to watch us so they can physically see that we’re doing all we can to use freshly picked ingredients,” said Josh.

He continued, “I have done extensive research to find as many non-GMO products as possible, carried by our food sourcing partners, to further reduce our carbon footprint.”

Leadership

Looking for equitable leadership within his team, Josh created a plan to allow each team member to take ownership of various tasks meant to allow them to learn the intricacies of managing a successful dining account. “Everyone takes turns ordering, scheduling, and cleaning. We rotate the responsibilities every month.’”

He added, “The Dietary Aides can take on the role of a Cook, and the Cooks are knowledgeable in the detailed requirements of a Dietary Aide. In a pinch, everyone can support one another and be ‘ready’ wherever they may be needed. I am very proud of them”

With a combination of inviting plate presentations, sourcing local products to reduce their carbon footprint, and leadership to empower the team, Josh Charbonneau and the entire dining team at Lehigh Commons, demonstrate daily what it means to go above and beyond and foster fulfillment in the partner facility they serve. We thank them for their hard work and dedication to HCSG’s Vision.
