HCSG Cook Awarded Caregiver of the Year

As an organization, our purpose is fostering fulfillment in communities. To exemplify this purpose, we advocate for our teams to go above and beyond to nurture happiness and satisfaction within the communities they live and work.

Matt O’Connor joined HCSG in 2017 as a Cook when we partnered with The Willows, a Genesis HealthCare facility, in Woodbridge, CT. When HCSG came in, Matt was already serving The Willows community for 20 years in the dining department. 

In the last five years with HCSG, Matt has immersed himself in living out our company’s purpose through his daily actions. 

Last winter, a significant snowstorm hit the Connecticut area, leaving much of the dietary staff unable to physically get into the facility to help make meals. Without hesitation, Matt worked both day and night shifts alongside the Food Service Director to ensure the facility’s residents received their meals and were properly cared for.

“Matt has gone above and beyond for the residents and staff. He is always there when you need him. He is kind, friendly, caring, and always willing to help with anything,” said The Willows Administrator Pete Mongillo.

“The residents and staff are always telling us how wonderful he is,” Pete continued.

Recently, Matt was awarded the 2022 Caregiver of the Year by The Willows. This honor serves as a symbol of the impact Matt makes within the community that he’s served for 25 years.

Co-workers of Matt’s have described him as incredibly accommodating to the needs and preferences of residents. He always keeps resident and family needs as a top priority, shows a willingness to help, and continues to be an asset to the facility.

We are proud that Matt O’Connor is a member of the Healthcare Services Group team and that he takes the HCSG mission to heart. We congratulate him on this amazing achievement and celebrate all he has done for The Willows community.
