HCSG Celebrates Hospital Week in Los Angeles

Earlier this Spring, the Healthcare Services Group’s (HCSG) Dining team at the Los Angeles Downtown Medical Center (LADMC) celebrated Hospital Week during the first week of May. The week was filled with events, including skills fairs and celebrations to honor the dedicated staff within the healthcare community.

HCSG partnered with LADMC in 2022 to provide housekeeping, dining, and nutrition services to their Los Angeles and Ingleside campuses and work together to achieve their mission of “delivering compassionate, high-quality care to patients and better healthcare to our community.” LADMC is located at the intersection of three of Los Angeles’ oldest neighborhoods – Historic Filipinotown, Echo Park, and Silver Lake.

Throughout Hospital Week, the dining team supported the celebration by hosting various events, including a pizza party and an ice cream social, and capped it off with a festive BBQ. 

With a predominantly Filipino staff, Regional Executive Chef Willie Enchill aimed to create a BBQ menu that honored and celebrated Filipino culture featuring the pork favorite, Cebu Lechon.

Chef Enchill enthusiastically stated, “Our culinary staff wants to showcase our ability to produce authentic cultural dishes. Who wouldn’t love Cebu Lechon or another national dish of the Philippines like Adobo? Let’s bring these beloved dishes right to their doorstep.”

Willie and the rest of HCSG’s dining team prepared for an estimated 350 people, sourcing authentic ingredients to ensure each dish was as genuine as possible. Each dish was thoughtfully designed,  bringing a taste of home to the hardworking staff at LADMC.

The LADMC staff indulged and appreciated the food to end a wonderful week. The devotion and creativity of all team members, from cooks and dietary aides to managers and executive chefs, truly made the event enjoyable for everyone involved. Each team member was hands-on and eager to learn for future culinary events.

Chef Willie expressed his gratitude, “To our amazing nurses, your kindness and empathy touch the lives of so many. Thank you!” The HCSG dining team was proud to celebrate the dedicated nurses within LADMC and the healthcare community worldwide.

While the dining team focused on delivering delicious meals throughout the week, the EVS team was right alongside them, assisting with setting up and breaking down for events, ensuring every space was cleaned before and after each celebration, and supporting wherever needed.

LADMC Chief Operating Officer Vicki Rollins shared her appreciation of HCSG after the week, “I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable support during Hospital Week. Your dedication and delicious meals made a significant difference in lifting spirits and fueling our team during this special week.
