Building a More Connected Procurement Environment Together
Since 2012, Healthcare Services Group and Direct Supply® DSSI™ have partnered to simplify procurement processes, strengthen purchasing consistency, and drive operational growth across the communities HCSG serves.
DSSI is a procurement and supply chain platform used by healthcare organizations to manage purchasing, invoicing, reporting, and vendor connectivity through a centralized system. Healthcare Services Group provides housekeeping, dining, and nutritional services to long-term care, rehabilitation, and post-acute care communities nationwide.
When the partnership began, HCSG managed many procurement processes manually and recognized the need for a centralized system to streamline ordering, improve oversight, and support long-term growth. Introduced to DSSI by a mutual client already using the platform for billing, HCSG identified an opportunity to create a more connected procurement environment that would enhance consistency, purchasing visibility, and operational control.
Initially, the platform supported food procurement partnerships. As the relationship evolved, HCSG and DSSI continued working together to expand capabilities and enhance budgeting and purchasing control tools, helping HCSG operations teams better manage budgets, monitor purchasing activity, and maintain alignment with operational goals. Within two years, HCSG connected all major vendor categories through DSSI, spanning food distribution, bakery items, uniforms, office supplies, technology, linen, and environmental services products. Today, more than 35 suppliers are connected through the platform, supporting over 3,500 HCSG accounts nationwide.
Supporting Day-to-Day Operations for Client Partners
Today, the partnership provides HCSG teams with a centralized platform for ordering approved products, managing purchasing activities, monitoring budgets, and maintaining operational consistency.
By streamlining procurement workflows and offering centralized catalog management, DSSI enables HCSG operations teams to manage budgets more effectively, monitor purchasing activity, and align with organizational goals.
The relationship also helps HCSG client partners maintain consistent purchasing practices, clearer budget oversight, and greater confidence in daily operations across long-term and post-acute care environments. As many healthcare organizations already use DSSI, the platform provides familiarity and transparency within established workflows.
The integration further streamlines accounts receivable processes, allowing invoices to flow seamlessly through a system familiar to many client partners and fully integrated into their daily operations. Today, HCSG processes more than 295,000 invoices annually through DSSI
Together, HCSG and DSSI continue to improve purchasing oversight, operational consistency, and workflow efficiency while adapting to the evolving needs of healthcare communities.
Growing Together Through Collaboration
A key strength of the partnership is the willingness of both organizations to evolve together. Through ongoing development discussions and biannual strategic meetings, HCSG and DSSI continually collaborate to improve workflows, expand capabilities, and better support HCSG operations and client partners.
Current priorities include ongoing enhancements to budgeting tools and reporting transparency, as well as onboarding new vendor partners to strengthen the overall procurement ecosystem.
DSSI’s flexibility and responsiveness have been instrumental in improving operational efficiency, strengthening purchasing oversight, and supporting long-term growth across the organization.
For more than a decade, the partnership between HCSG and DSSI has shown how long-term relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and collaboration foster consistent operations, stronger purchasing oversight, and better everyday support for the healthcare communities both organizations serve.
