How to Prepare for an Interview with HCSG

Interviews can cause anxiety, but the best way to combat anxiety is with knowledge. Use these five tips from Healthcare Services Group Corporate Recruiter Brittany McGuire to help you prepare for your next interview.

Do Your Research

Review Your Online Presence
Ensure your professional social media accounts, especially LinkedIn, are up-to-date and present you in a positive light. Remove any content that may be considered unprofessional.

Plan Ahead
What’s the travel time for your interview location? Are you using public transportation or a personal vehicle? Take time to plan out your transportation route and leave a few minutes early to ensure that you arrive on time.

What to Wear
Your attire will vary by the position you are applying for, but it’s always good to look polished and put together to show the interviewer that you care. Make sure you dress for success.

Body Language
Pay attention to the non-verbal cues during an interview. Maintain good posture, make eye contact, and offer a firm handshake. Positive body language conveys confidence and professionalism. Practice your body language during mock interviews to ensure you appear calm and collected.

Quantify Your Achievements
When discussing your accomplishments, try to quantify them with numbers or percentages. This adds credibility and provides concrete evidence of your contributions in previous roles.

Practice Makes Perfect
Don’t let the nerves of an interview blindside you. Hold a mock interview with a friend to rehearse your responses, read through your resume, and practice eye contact before the interview.

Sample Interview Questions:

  1. What are you looking for in your next role?
  2. What strengths will you bring to this role?
  3. Share an example of a time you overcame an obstacle at work.

Prepare Questions
Be ready to ask insightful questions about the company, team, or role. This not only demonstrates your genuine interest but also helps you evaluate whether it’s a right fit for you. Questions about company growth, team dynamics, or future projects can be particularly impactful.

Follow Up
Follow up with the hiring manager and express your gratitude for the opportunity to interview for the position. Emphasize your skill sets that are fit for the role.
