5 Tips to Stay Healthy Through the Holidays
The holiday season and stress often go hand in hand. From Christmas shopping and holiday gatherings to juggling priorities and end-of-year deadlines, our holiday cheer can quickly turn into dread making it easy to choose holiday treats over seasonal veggies. But there are a few tips you can work into your day to help you prioritize health and ease some of the holiday stress.
Follow these five tips to set yourself up for success and make healthier choices throughout the holiday season.
1. Get Enough Rest
Get Enough Rest
Sleep deprivation prevents your body from operating at its best.
2. Fit Exercise Into Your Schedule
Fit Exercise Into Your Schedule
Aim for at least three to four exercises per week.
3. Stay Nourished
Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet and drink at least eight cups of water daily.
4. Snack Ahead
Always eat before heading to a holiday party. It will prevent overeating at the event. If you do graze, only try a few items to snack on – you don’t have to eat all of the foods offered.
5. Avoid Alcohol
This one can be tough, but it does more harm than good and doesn’t possess any nutritional benefits.
